4/08: This now appears to have been fixed

The BNL proxies do not allow access to a variety of sites of interest to physicists. This includes certain physics department websites in Iran

• Department of Physics, Sharif University of Technology
• Physics Department, Tehrán Polytechnic Amirkabir University of Technology
• Institute for Studies in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics, Iran. This site is the portal for several international conferences:
  • IPM Cosmology School and Workshop, June 2 - 9, 2007
  • IPM String School and Workshop, April 9 -18, 2007
  • IPM School & Conference on Lepton and Hadron Physics, May 15 - 20, 2006
• Isfahan University of Technology, Depertment of Physics

Not all Iranian sites are blocked, i.e. the University of Tehran is not.

My attempts to determine why these are blocked have gone nowhere; my suspicion is that this information is classified. But commercial providers, such as optonline, have no problem reaching them.
