The Rooting War

To hide the Fermi spin in flips of sign
It seems indeed a clever trick to play.
In clustered groups of four it's quite benign
For quarks to hop around a grid that way.
The speed is good, it saves on cost.
But quarks as two plus one, not four, we find.
We must reflect upon the mirror lost;
A quarter power leaves too much behind.
Beware, this must not be, it is not there!
But some with much at stake do this ignore.
They weave a loose facade of roots to snare
Who dare to question what they did before.
A few still hide behind this wall so frail,
So blind to chiral twists that make it fail.
